ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Mr. H. A. Doku is a young Scientist who obtained B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and M. Phil Nuclear Agriculture (Plant Biotechnology and Mutation Breeding option) from University of Ghana. He was a trainee Research Scientist at the Biotechnology and Nuclear Agriculture Research Institute of Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. He joined the CSIR- Crops Research Institute in October, 2012. He was a post graduate Intern at Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology of Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan (R.O.C) from July 1 to August 31, 2013.
His career objective is to employ both conventional and biotechnology techniques in plant breeding to improve the performance of food crops and enhance their quality. He has research interest in Gene function studies, cloning, mutation breeding, biofortification as well as genotyping and phenotyping of food crops especially cereals.
He is currently conducting a study on the efficacy of proline on drought tolerance of some species of Oryza glaberrima alongside research in breeding rice lines rich in iron and zinc.
He is a member of CSIR- Research Staff Association (RSA). He is currently working in the Biotechnology, Seed and Food Division of CSIR- Crops Research Institute.
